As with Pokemon cards that they are really not worth much, you can on eBay for an idea of how many people sold checked. My brother studied there for a while and found that only very few tickets are worthless.
I do not know about sports cards know, but I think it depends on the amount of print insurance card. I can imagine that most people who collected cards in the 60s is not the case, then there is a large monetary value associated with them.
